Google Maps adds practical new features: A real-time view of global forest coverage
Even now, the global forest area is still shrinking, in order to make people more aware of this grim situation, Google recently launched a new interactive map-"Global forest Monitoring (Forest Watch)", which can show real-time global forest coverage. There will be a number of sources for the map, including data on NASA's forest area coverage.
It is reported that the "global Forest Monitoring" map plan as early as the previous year has been announced. The World Resources Institute (WRI) said that the "global forest Surveillance" map would be an important tool for forest protection. It suggests that governments, law enforcement agencies and conservationists around the world can make good use of the map, monitor local land and take corresponding measures to reduce the shrinking forest area.
