Recession seven tips to help CIOs successfully implement virtualization

While the two strategies are not necessarily mutually exclusive, Crosby that the Xen approach will provide an advantage in an economic downturn. 2. Be a cloud provider (or complete cloud computing): Think of your datacenter as a delivery center. If you don't have the resources to become a cloud provider, or if few companies can become cloud providers, consider using a cloud computing service from Amazon.

3. Use "One Power": In other words, there is only one copy of each application, operating system, workload, and data, and each user has only one password to log in there.

4. Make it easy to use everywhere: consider using laptops and mobile devices, especially the iphone.

5. Hold a dance with your own computer. See who's doing well: provide a fixed amount of money to each employee and tell them to buy their own computer and technical support contracts.

6. Adhere to the "You can meet with everyone" virtual conference: GoTo meeting, WebEx, and similar video conferencing software can replace just for a two-hour meeting to send a company officials to run half the United States as far.

7. Stroll around your local Apple App store. It should be noted that consumer choice will promote the choice of information systems institutions. By the end of 2010, the choice of end users will determine 50% of all the software, hardware and services it offers, according to market research firm Gartner.
