Recommendation: Implement interconnection between different CIDR blocks by setting up IP routes

When a LAN must have more than two CIDR blocks, hosts in different CIDR blocks are invisible to each other. To solve this problem, you must set a router between different network segments. If you spend tens of thousands of yuan to buy a router, it is not worthwhile to connect only two network segments in the LAN. Is there any good solution? Of course, this is the IP routing in Windows.

I. Preparations before installing soft Routing

1. Install Windows 2000 Server on the computer you want to set as a soft route.

2. install two NICs correctly on the computer you want to set as a soft route.

3. Install the TCP/IP protocol on the computer to be set as a soft route, and configure IP addresses for the two NICs, for example, 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 and 10.0.0.1/255.0.0.0 ), make the two NICs in two different IP network segments.

Ii. Installation of soft Routing

Log On As the domain user administrator and perform the following operations.

1. Click Start/Program/management tool/route and remote access in sequence to open the Routing and Remote Access window.

2. Click the "operations" menu, select the "configure and enable Routing and Remote Access" command, run the "route and Remote Access Server Installation Wizard", and click [next].

3. Because we want to install a vro here, select the "network router" option and click [next].

4. Generally, only the TCP/IP protocol and NetBEUI protocol are installed on the LAN computer, and only the TCP/IP protocol has the routing function. The AppleTalk protocol is only used for communications between Apple computers. As the TCP/IP protocol is displayed in the "protocol" list, select "yes, all available protocols are on the list" and click [next].

5. In this example, the remote access service is not installed. Therefore, select "no" and do not use a dial-up request to access the remote network. Click [next].

6. Complete the route and Remote Access Server Installation Wizard and click [finish].

3. Soft route settings

1. Click Start/Program/management tool/route and remote access in sequence to open the Routing and Remote Access window.

2. Right-click the server name of the route to be enabled, and click "properties". The "properties" dialog box is displayed.

3. On the "General" tab, select the "vro" check box, select the "for LAN routing only" option, and click [OK].

4. In the "Routing and Remote Access" window, open "IP Route Selection" in the left-side directory tree and right-click "General ", select "New Route Selection protocol" in the shortcut menu, and the "New Route Selection protocol" dialog box is displayed.

5. Select "RIP version 2 for Internet Protocol" in the "Route Selection protocol" list, and click [OK]. Note: We recommend that you select the RIP Protocol in Small and Medium networks and OSPF protocol in large networks.

6. Right-click "RIP" in the directory tree and select "New Interface" in the shortcut menu to display the "new interface for RIP version 2 of Internet protocol" dialog box.

7. Select the first network interface in the interface list box, that is, "Local Connection", and click [OK] to display the "RIP properties" dialog box.

8. Set the RIP attribute to the default value and click [OK].

9. Repeat the above 6 to 8 operations to add a second network interface for RIP, that is, "Local Connection 2 ".

Iv. Client Configuration

If you want to implement mutual access between computers in the IP address ranges 192.168.1.0 and 10.0.0.0, after installing and setting the IP route, you must also set the client accordingly. For computers in the 192.168.1.0 CIDR Block, set the default gateway to 192.168.1.1. for computers in the 10.0.0.0 CIDR Block, set the default gateway to 10.0.0.1. The setting method is as follows:

1. Open "Start/control panel/network" in sequence, and open the "network" dialog box.

2. on the "configuration" tab, "have the following network components installed", select "QXCOMM QN4083102A" in "TCP/IP) PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter "the NIC installed in this example is an omnidirectional QN408). Click [properties] to display the" TCP/IP properties "dialog box.

3. Select the "Gateway" tab and type "192.168.1.1" in the "new Gateway" dialog box. If the IP address is at 192.168.1.0 ~ Between 192.168.1.255) or "10.0.0.1" if the IP address is located in 10.0.0.0 ~ 10 .. between 255.255.255), click [add].

4. Click [OK] to complete the gateway settings and restart the computer as prompted. After the default gateways are set for computers in the network, mutual access can be achieved between computers in different network segments.

  1. Cross-network segment mutual access using IP Forwarding and Route Routing
  2. Different network segments can be interconnected without a router
