Abstract:
Hard disk failure rate statistics for each quarter:
In the first 18 months (six quarters), the failure rate had been around 5%, which was greatly reduced in the next year. Then, it increased sharply in the third year, reaching 10-15%.
This shows that if the hard disk is used continuously, there is a high probability that problems will occur three years later.
Hard Disk survival rate:
After collecting statistics on your hard disk, backblze found that:
-In the first one and a half years, 5.1% of hard disks are attached each year.
-In the next year and a half, this proportion is reduced to only about 1.4%.
-The failure rate rose to 11.8% in the next three years.
Minus these sacrifices, the remaining proportion in the total volume is the hard disk survival rate.
That is to say, after four years of continuous operation, 80% of hard disks remain normal.
How long can a hard disk be used?
If the failure rate remains unchanged in the later stage, half of the hard disk will be suspended after six years, or the remaining half will be normal, or half of your hard disk will be able to run continuously for six years.
