With Amazon EBS, you can choose to allocate storage capacity, which is reliable and persistent and independent from Amazon EC2 instances. In addition, to provide even more persistent backup and a simple way to create a new capacity, Amazon EBS provides consistent snapshot capabilities for creating a capacity at a specific time, then store it in Amazon S3. As a result, AWS virtual storage devices allow enterprises to smoothly migrate all applications using NAS to the cloud without modification.
