Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 now supports ARM architecture servers
Red Hat today announced the official launch of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.4 commercial operating system with ARM-based hardware. "Our goal is to develop a unified operating system that supports 64-bit ARMv8-A server-level processors from various vendors and use the same resources to create user and related feature sets, this facilitates the customer's extensive server deployment and application compatibility maintenance."
Red Hat and ARM work very closely together to allow RHEL systems to run on server-level processor systems typically used in cloud computing and hyperscale. Red Hat has established close contacts with ARM technology giants such as kotonghe and Cavium, and works with OEM partners such as HPE to design and develop systems based on the 64-bit ARM architecture.
