Sybase is a database product that goes hand in hand with Oracle, and has more applications on the enterprise platform. The other day, I spent a lot of time in installing and configuring Sybase, and in the midst of all the difficulties, I recorded these processes here for your reference and the shortcomings.
A, the software version
The operating system is Red Flag Linux Server 4.1, that is, Asianux, the kernel version is 2.4.21-9.30AXSMP. The Sybase version is ase1253esd1xe_linux and can be downloaded from the www.sybase.com. This version does not require permission and can be used for free.
Second, install the operating system
The installation of the red flag is easier than the CAP, and it does not allow you to choose Servers, workstations, customizations, and full installations, so most of the action is to click "Next" with the mouse, and then a long wait (to change the second disc) to complete the installation.
Three, the system basic configuration
1 set the network parameters, if there is not the correct place, modify the file/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, sometimes in the installation process set the default gateway does not take effect, you can join a row in this file gateway= 202.108.93.254//I suppose, should be set according to their own actual situation. 2 Set the host name. Because Sybase needs to define Sybase's service name (such as Run_hostname) with the hostname, it is also necessary to take a simple name. By modifying the file/etc/hosts to achieve the purpose, my sample file is as follows
[root @ sybase root] # vi / etc / hosts
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
#that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
202.108.93.200 sybase // This line is added
After the Sybase installation is configured, Sybase's home server name will become run_sybase. 3 Add user Sybase, which is used to install, configure, and run the Sybase database server. For security reasons, it is not recommended to use root to install, configure , and run the Sybase server. The commands for adding users are as follows:
[root @ sybase /] # useradd –d / opt / sybase sybase // Specify the home directory of the sybase user
[root @ sybase /] # passwd sybase // Set password for user sybase
Changing password for user sybase.
New password: mygod // The password is mygod, which is displayed as an asterisk.
Retype new password: mygod // Enter it again
Iv. Download Sybase installation files
Download Sybase installation files ase1253esd1xe_linux.tar.gz, create a directory/tmp/sybase, save the file Ase1253esd1xe_linux in this directory, and then extract the file, after the decompression, modify the directory/tmp/ Sybase's permissions enable the user Sybase to read and execute files in the/tmp/sybase directory. The operation process is as follows:
[Root@sybase/] #mkdir/tmp/sybase
To access www.sybase.com, save the file ase1253esd1xe_linux.tar.gz in the directory/tmp/sybase
[Root@sybase/] #cd/tmp/sybase
[Root@sybase/] #tar –ZXVF ase1253esd1xe_linux.tar.gz//Extract Files
[Root@sybase/]chmod–r 755/tmp/sybase//Change file permissions to facilitate user//sybase permission to read and execute phase
Close File
Look at the resulting results of the decompression.
