The Red Hat software set was released in the fall of 2013. its target audience is open-source software developers who want to use a single source to deploy the latest stable version of the leading open source programming language, database, and toolset. RedHat provides this suite as a subscription service and promises to provide more software updates than RHEL. In general, the software package is updated only when the company releases a new version of the operating system.
Red Hat plans to release a large version of The New Red Hat software set every 18 months, but it also provides more frequent incremental updates. The 1.1 version of this platform is the first update since RedHat launched this service and is one of those minor updates. According to the official red hat, the main changes include:
- Two new open-source HTTP server options: Apache HTTP Server and Ngnix (Technical Preview)
- PHP 5.5, server-side scripting language designed for web Development
- Ruby 2.0 and Rails 4.0 are packaged separately for the first time, allowing developers to obtain Ruby updated versions without installing Rails.
- MongoDB, a high-performance open-source document database and a leading NoSQL database, provides high availability and scalability.
- Thermostat 1.0 is a tool that monitors Java VM instances on multiple hosts.
Although the current Red Hat Software Collection is not as important as the Red Hat business, it is a good example for open-source communities, it is reflected in how an organization coordinates stable and timely new software requirements in the context of rapid growth and natural dispersion of open-source development. Open-source vendors like RedHat rely heavily on third-party code generation, but at the same time, they seldom release new versions of software-or even do not strictly follow the regular release schedule-which is why it is difficult for an open-source platform to stay up-to-date. However, RedHat took the initiative to merge the latest stable release of the remote open-source project into an integrated software suite, it saves developers a lot of time-the premise is that they have subscribed to this Red Hat software set.
