RedHat released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 for Enterprise users yesterday. As a revised version, this version includes the following improvements:
* Expanded x86-64 virtualization availability: now supports 32 virtual CPUs and 80 GB virtual memory, correspondingly, physical CPU support is increased to 126, physical memory support to 1 TB. It also supports the latest Hugepage memory and Intel Extended Page Tables (EPT) technology.
* Support for Intel Core i7 (Nehalem) Processors: the feedback from the Red Hat Engineering Performance Group shows that, using this new quad-core hyper-threading 45nm processor will increase to 1.7 times the commercial program performance and 3.5 times the theoretical performance.
* Including OpenJDK: OpenJDK is a high-performance open-source Java SE 6 implementation. The OpenJDK included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 has been fully supported by the Java SE 6 TCK compatibility test OpenJDK.
