A service provider (ASP) application of efficient full service data center is largely dependent on the design of a redundant, high-performance infrastructure cabling System.

Do you receive an alert when the computer displays a "server is not responding" message? Such experiences often occur even in IT companies with large investment and high staff quality. Nathaniel Hein, network operations and Support Services Manager for Tek Systems, said: The outsourcing model can provide high-speed network services to companies, including the latest network applications, web hosting services, e-mail systems, and data storage, while also meeting the company's 7x24x 365 All-weather applications will not have some headache problems and any other unforeseen expenses incurred.

Jon Vining, Netswork's project manager, said: "With a reliable infrastructure for this project, the Claritytm solution offered by Ortronics for Tek Systems has excellent cost performance and good installation feasibility, Eventually become the choice of many network companies. ”

Hein added: "In the past year's technological development changes, if the company can adopt integrated LAN system and external high-speed connection, then the bandwidth and speed to meet the current and future application requirements, which will have a certain advantage for the company." In other words, we provide power, channels, and links to our users. "At the same time Hein stressed:" But for the application vendor, the key to success is to design redundant systems in order to provide users with redundant backup when the network crashes, ortronics CLARITYTM design scheme can effectively enhance the performance of six types of structured cabling system. ”

The first ASP data center of Tek Systems was designed by a top design project from applied Technology Solutions, designed by Mr. Jon Netswork, project manager of the Vining company (network integration, cabling Engineering and telecommunications engineering). This company belongs to Ortronics's senior Certified Installer (CIP). Eric Maxfield, Applied Technology Solutions, said: "When I was designing the data center for the first Internet Business system for Tek Systems, I used a redundant system, which was located in Hanover. In particular, we not only install an internal network system, but also provide an external host with a fault-free network environment. ”

"In this environment, redundant design is not overly considered, but a necessary design," Maxfield explains. "In order to obtain a network system with almost no breakdown, applied Technology Solutions has designed four separate basic cabling systems within the Tek company, two of which are data channels called ' Production 1 ' and ' Production 2 ', the two systems are connected to the same server, providing redundancy protection for any network failure and can be chosen as a fast channel when the line is overloaded. The third channel, which we call ' out of Band ', has a separate Ethernet hardware that manages the server and the network. The fourth channel is a data storage backup for each server, connected to a remote tape backup system. Using four different network channels for wiring, so that the system can accommodate 4000 servers. (Computer science)

Tek Systems companies require a reliable, high-performance, structured cabling solution to manage networks and routes. On the basis of the premise of high reliability, considering the comprehensive cost-performance and the installation, Ortronics's clarity™ products will win one, and provide the above system equipment for Tek. The installer Netswork Company employs a professionally trained, forward-looking problem-solving ability and experienced installer, and after the project is completed, Tek quickly gained user recognition in the market. "Through our very artistic design and proper construction, we can ensure that every user is designed as they wish," Vining said. ”

Maxfield introduced to us that clarity™ is a structured cabling solution for the horizontal and backbone network of enhanced UTP copper and optical cables, designed by the Ortronics company. They have already installed such systems elsewhere, and practice has shown that they are very easy to install and have high reliability characteristics. The CLARITYTM system is a high-performance, enhanced, six-class UTP solution that delivers a fairly high level of dynamic performance. At the same time, CLARITYTM designed channel capacity bandwidth of 250M to achieve 2.5 GB/s, fully meet today's Gigabit Ethernet standards.

Hein added: "With Claritytm, there is the right solution, we can ensure that our users can meet the requirements of the future network, very easy to adapt to the changes in the network." ”

An atypical ASP

Hein to us, "our first site was chosen in Portland, because there are no major natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods and landslides." All of our ASP centers use such devices, and we will continue to recommend and use them. ”

"We sell to ASP data centers not only bandwidth, but also our data centers can become corporate networks of some companies, because we also have the ability to provide applications such as host services." Our first goal is information management and host services. We can plug in the Exchange server in the network, simultaneously access to thousands of client computers, and even on the same server to implement a number of companies operating programs. We have a space of thousands of servers, so we can meet the needs of most information management and host services. "Hein added.

"A typical datacenter environment is typically a room full of equipment and a security officer, and most of the data center floors are uplifted and the following space is used to place cables." But that doesn't mean they can be independent, even if they don't require the control of the device or the software. Hein continued, "We've invested a lot of money to build the best room to meet our 99.999% uptime needs." We not only provide cabinets, device security, hardware connectivity and cabling systems, but we also provide application support and unlimited bandwidth. With the Claritytm solution, we can meet the user's application requirements and make sure the network is easy to change. ”

"When you design a system to ensure channel capacity, channel continuity, and channel reliability, there is another key element that is worth considering is the jumper." "Maxfield points out," Ortronics uses the paralign™ plug to design the new CLARITY6 jumper to provide the cable to control, uses the standard RJ45 plug, the maximum control and reduces the next and the Fext. At the same time, it also has a certain stress-releasing ability, in order to maintain the cable alignment to the degree of balance in the line when the stress generated. ”

Power

The TEK system will eventually install more than 500 cabinets and connect to four simultaneous networks with dual power supplies. These cabinets are supported by 27 intermediate wiring Racks (IDF), which are connected to the main wiring racks (MDF) using 24 standard multimode gigalite™ fibers of 62.5 microns. "Speed is the most important factor for a power supply solution," he said. Optical fiber needs to provide maximum bandwidth and speed, and must ensure the energy supply of the entire application. "Vining explained.

The backbone fiber is connected to the Ortronics ORMMAC II cabinet, which installs 72 ports with dual SC connectors. The backbone fibers are connected to these ports and are then connected to the four Ortronics 48-port six-type wiring racks, which comprise four different cabling systems.

On IDF, the CLARITYTM system includes the Ortronics six cable, which is connected to the user's 500 data racks, which are eventually wired and exported on the six-type wiring rack panels of the Ortronics 24-port. Although the Tek system is currently running at a speed of 100M, the design of the CLARITYTM system can be smoothly transferred to the future using four pairs of cable Full-duplex transmission applications.

For four different networks, there are four different locations in each IDF for line playing. In addition, redundant cables and redundant power systems are configured, and redundant power systems include uninterruptible power supplies and generators, which are used for electrical control and air-conditioning. The Tek system also has 24/7-hour personnel on duty, and the hotline can help with equipment operation and maintenance support.

Channel

Connected to the external channel using OC3 line, connected to the OC48 sonet ring network. Maxfield explained to us: "OC48 can be described as a virtual ring, or can be likened to a country in the highway connecting the continents." Any user connected to the ring uses the T-1 line, then transmits over the entire loop, using the Tek system Company's OC3 line to transmit it again, just like a highway turnoff. Once we've built a lot of data centers like this, we'll have a lot of turnoff, so we can set up a new turnoff for each center. We currently have two such data centers, one in Portland, the other in Hanover. As the site and the user increase, we can change the size of the fork, such as using OC12. ”

In Portland, each user may be connected to a different location, but the connections between users can be connected through the channels of the Tek system, or they can be connected via Ethernet. The size of the channel will change as the application requirements change.

Uplink

Once users are able to access the Internet through the Tek System Company's network, they are equivalent to having four highly reliable different networks and four separate cabling infrastructures. Each server has four Ethernet ports and four network interface cards, connected to each of the different network switches through a single cable to connect four different networks.

The two cabling systems mentioned previously production 1 and production 2 are connected to the same server through separate channels. This allows the user's network to form a star switched Ethernet through the IDF to MDF. If a line is congested or blocked, another line can automatically generate a route to the server.

The Out-of-band management link is not in the same cabling system, but a stand-alone system manages these servers and network hardware through a separate Ethernet channel while backing up the network of the storage area. This means that the TEK system has a backup of all the data on the server, and it does not take advantage of the cabling system from the production channel, but is backed up directly through the remote tape library.

In the actual operation, the network requires the wiring system to provide higher performance in the dynamic change, including BER, traffic and channel capacity. To ensure optimal static and dynamic network performance for Tek's cabling system, the Clarity solution provides 25 full quality assurance, including warranty on material and installation quality. The Netswork Company provides support and maintenance for the already-shipped network to ensure that all certification and quality assurance are realized.

Port

"For internal office networks, we also need a high-performance, high-capacity and wide-bandwidth system," Maxfield said. "In the internal network, there is an IDF engine room, which is tightly connected through 24 standard optical fibres and MDF rooms." In the computer room, the Netsworks company installs the CLARITYTM system, which includes a ortronics six cable for data and telephone connections to 161 workstations. Each surface mounting panel or modular panel uses the Ortronics tracjack™ series six sockets, each of which includes three to four ports. One port uses a white socket for the phone; the other two to three ports are green, orange, or blue for the data port. All ports in the IDF 48-port Wiring rack panel are color-coded to meet the standards.

Summary

Hein concludes: "Our ASP data center business has a very broad market prospects, but now how can we do the best?" We will standardize business processes while standardizing the infrastructure of the entire network. Our network infrastructure and redundant networks already have fairly good conditions, and in our future data centers we will use the same product and the same wiring design. ”
