Regularly Delete MySQL binary log files
All updates (add, delete, and modify) to the MySQL database are saved to the binary log file of MySQL. With this binary file, we can roll back the database and restore the database.
At the same time, the size of the binary file is very large, so do not forget to configure log scrolling.
Expire_logs_days
Add expire_logs_days to the my. cnf file of the MySQL database. 7 indicates the number of days for storing binary log files.
Do not forget to restart MySQL after modifying the my. cnf file.
/Etc/my. cnf [mysqld]... expire_logs_days = 7
After modifying the configuration of my. cnf, users who do not want to restart the database can use the set global command.
Mysql> set global expire_logs_days = 7; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql> SHOW GLOBAL VARIABLES like 'expire _ logs_days '; + ------------------ + ------- + | Variable_name | Value | + ------------------ + ------- + | expire_logs_days | 7 | + ------------------ + ------- + 1 row in set (0.00 sec)
