Management of the server has a Windows 2008, the server has recently copied hundreds of thousands of of the picture, the copy is very large, the maintenance of the discovery of each copy, the operating system memory usage will be close to 100%, resulting in no other operation, the previous several times after the restart server after work to resolve, Look over it today and find out the cause of the problem

Problem Description:

The server R2 system takes up a large amount of memory resources while doing a lot of IO operations until the memory fills up, causing the system to run slower.

Related phenomena:
1. Memory consumption of more than 90% (that is, 64G of memory, will also occupy 63.5G)
2. All process memory and low in Resource Manager (about 10G)
3. By Rammap you can see that the mapped file is a very high value.

Cause:
Server2008 R2 will try to use memory for file caching to improve the read and write speed of the corresponding file, however, there is no default limit value (for Windows system issues)

Workaround:
1. Temporary resolution strategy: Using Rammap's empty system working set, the file cache can be freed. Specific. The downside is that the file cache will continue to grow after the IO operation continues.

2. Better resolution strategy: Force the Windows System file cache size to be set so that it does not consume a large amount of memory. The disadvantage is that each reboot needs to be reset.

, using Rammap can make the file cache completely free, but later it will be re-added until it fills up.
The use of setsystemfilecachesize allows the file cache to be effectively controlled.
