Reopen the file transfer manager (FTM)

The file transfer manager (FTM) is the download client used by msdn subscribers to download files. During the first download, the system will prompt you to install FTM.

You may need to "Manage Users" to install the ActiveX control, depending on the company group policy. If you encounter installation problems, you can visit the Microsoft File Transfer manager site and use MSI to installProgramInstall the latest version.

If you want to find FTM again, follow these steps:

  • Open a command window (Start, Run and typeCMDOrCommandDepending on version of Windows)
  • Open the command line window ("START"-> "run"-> enter the "cmd" command)
  • Switch the directory to % SystemRoot % \ Downloaded Program Files \
  • Enter transfermgr.exe<Enter>
