Definition of Software Engineering:
Software Engineering is to study and apply how to develop and maintain software with systematic, standardized, and quantifiable procedural methods, and how to combine time-tested and proven management technologies with the best current technical methods.
Definition of project management:
Project management is a branch of management science. It refers to the application of specialized knowledge, skills, tools and methods in project activities, so that projects can be controlled by limited resources, achieve or exceed the set requirements and expectations. Project management is a whole process of activities (such as tasks) related to successful achievement of a series of goals. This includes planning, Progress Planning, and maintenance of the progress of the activities that constitute the project.
Software Engineering provides us with a guiding method for software development (RUP, MSF). Project management is more to think about problems from a higher perspective, it summarizes the problems encountered in the project management and the conventional solutions. It is applicable not only to software development, but to any project. PMP is an internationally renowned project management qualification certification. By studying PMBOK courses, you can obtain PMP certification. In the software industry, IBM has also summarized a set of project management methods that are more suitable for the software industry, called wwpmm.
Through software engineering, the team is guided to develop software projects step by step. Through project management, management personnel can plan software projects, track plan execution, and control risks, through the combination of software engineering and project management, the project can be successfully moved forward.
