Purpose
The survey is an information technology obtained by many people in a short period of time through real-name or anonymous methods. A survey can be used to collect customers, products, and attitudes, it is usually conducted through a questionnaire.
Description
The questionnaire survey method is also called the questionnaire method. It is a survey method that the investigator uses a unified design questionnaire to understand the situation or consult the selected survey object.
A questionnaire survey is a research method that collects data by writing questions. The investigator prepares the questions to be studied into a question form and fills in the answers by mail, in person, or by tracking access to learn the views and opinions of the subject on a phenomenon or question, this is also known as the problem table method. The key to the use of the questionnaire method is to prepare the questionnaire, select the subjects and analyze the results.
There are three basic types of answers: Open answer, closed answer, and hybrid answer.
- Open answer
The so-called open answer means that no specific answer is provided for the answer to the question, and the respondents are free to enter the answer.
The biggest advantage of an open answer is its high flexibility and adaptability. It is especially suitable for answering questions with many answer types, complex answers, or uncertain answers. At the same time, it is conducive to the initiative and creativity of respondents, so that they can freely express their opinions. Generally, open answers provide more information than closed answers, and sometimes discover unexpected and enlightening answers. The disadvantage of open answers is that the degree of standardization of answers is low, and it is difficult to organize and analyze answers. There will be many general, inaccurate, and valuable information. At the same time, it requires respondents to have strong verbal skills, and it takes a lot of time to fill in. In this way, the questionnaire response rate and efficiency may be reduced.
- Closed answer
Closed answers refer to listing all the primary and even all possible answers to a question. Then, the respondents can select one or more answers as their answers, instead of answering these answers. Closed answers generally provide some guidance or instructions on the answer methods. These guidance or instructions are mostly enclosed in brackets and are attached to the back of the relevant questions.
Closed answers have many advantages. Their answers are pre-designed and standardized. They not only help respondents correctly understand and answer questions, save time, increase the questionnaire response rate and efficiency, but also help
Conduct statistical and quantitative research on answers. Closed answers are also helpful for asking some sensitive questions. Respondents often do not want to write their own opinions on such questions, but they may make real choices on the existing answers. Seal
The disadvantage of closed answer is that the design is difficult, especially for some complicated questions with many or unclear answers. It is difficult to design completely and comprehensively. Once the design is flawed, respondents cannot answer questions correctly.
The answer method is mechanical, not flexible, difficult to adapt to complex situations, and difficult to exert the initiative of the respondents; it is easier to fill in, respondents may not understand themselves or even at all
You can enter any questions to reduce the authenticity and reliability of the answers.
Closed answers are provided in a variety of ways, including the following:
- Fill in the blank form, that is, enter the Answer Method in the horizontal line or brackets behind the question
- There are only two answers available.
- The question is followed by a number of horizontal lines that fill in the answer. The respondent lists the answer methods by themselves.
- Multiple choice: Lists multiple answers. The respondents are free to choose one or more answers.
- In sequence, a number of answers are listed, and the respondents arrange the answers in sequence.
- Rank: Lists answers of different levels. The respondents select the answer method based on their own opinions or feelings.
- Matrix, which sorts several similar questions and answers into a matrix. The respondents compare the answers.
- In tabular form, several similar questions and answers are listed in a table, which is answered by the respondents.
- Hybrid answer
The so-called hybrid answer refers to the combination of closed and open answers. It is essentially a semi-closed and semi-open answer type. This method combines the advantages of open and closed answers, and avoids the disadvantages of both. It is widely used.
Key Points
- Design Questionnaire
- Purpose
- Select the survey object and design the problem based on different feature groups of the user group.
- Follow-up requirements
- The survey should be as short as possible, preferably less than 10 items
- Make sure the problem is clear and accurate
- Avoid repeated problems
- Avoid problems and make decisions uncomfortable
- Internal Test Investigation Wen Jun
- Questionnaire distribution: Web, Email, or phone number?
- Documented survey results
- Collect feedback, conduct a detailed assessment of open issues, and find out whether there are new topics
- Analysis and Summary Results
Considerations
- Benefits
- A large amount of data obtained when closed problems are used for statistical analysis
- When using open questions, you can obtain opinions and opinions that are not easily obtained by other technologies.
- It does not take too much time for the responder
- This method is effective when the stakeholders are not in the same region.
- Massive feedback
- Fast and costly
- Disadvantages
- More analysis is required to use open-ended questions.
- Some problems may be left blank for various reasons
- The answers to more questions depend on the designed questionnaire.
- It is not ideal to collect information about actual behaviors.
