If you use a VMware virtual machine suddenly crash system blue screen, there is a certain chance that will not start, you will be prompted: Lock the file failed to open the disk or the disk depends on the snapshot, this is because the virtual machine at the time of operation, will lock the file, prevent being modified, and if suddenly the system crashes, The virtual machine will not be anxious to unlock the locked files, so when you start, you will be prompted to lock the file, such as:

Why the problem occurred:
The virtual disk (. vmdk) itself has a disk protection mechanism that, in order to prevent multiple VMs from accessing the same virtual disk (. vmdk) for both data loss and performance reduction, virtual machines are used each time the virtual machine is started with a. LCK (disk Lock) file on the virtual disk (. vmdk ) for lock protection. The. LCK (disk lock) file is automatically deleted when the virtual machine shuts down. However, the virtual machine may not have been able to delete the. LCK (disk Lock) file on your system since you shut down the VM properly, so this error occurs the next time you start the virtual machine.

solution:   Delete all files and folders ending with. lck in the virtual machine configuration files and Virtual disk folders

1. Open the folder where you stored the virtual machine system files, note that it is the virtual machine system files, not the virtual machine installation directory, that is, when you set up the virtual machine location:

2. Then search this folder with the following keywords: *.lck, and delete the files and their folders.
