Resolving Windows 8.1 cannot be updated automatically

My Windows 8.1 Notebook is often used outside, often using a variety of external networks, and has used a variety of agents to surf the Internet. In the past, whether in the school connection campus network, or at home can carry out normal system Automatic updates, but recently through the control Panel into Automatic Updates, repeatedly check Automatic Updates, there will be 8024402F error code, can not be updated (Figure 1). How to solve it?

The Microsoft technical Code base query learned that a 8024402F error occurred during Windows updates, most of which was caused by the inability to connect to the Internet, so the problem resolution focused on the network environment. A safe way to prevent doing nothing is to change the network environment test to see if the system can be updated. If the problem persists, try the following methods.

　　1. Set a fixed DNS address

Right-click the Start button, and then execute Control Panel from the right-click menu, and select Network and Sharing Center through the all Control Panel items list. In the next window, click "Change adapter Settings" in the left-hand navigation bar (Figure 2).

Right-click the currently used network connection (local or broadband connection) and select Properties (Figure 3). In the Network Properties window, select Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPV4) and click the Properties button (Figure 4). In the Open Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPV4) Properties window, select Use the following DNS server to manually set up the DNS address of the network you are using in the preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server (Figure 5).

Small tip:

If you do not know this address, and you are using the router and can be connected to the network, access to the Router Settings page, in the Connection Status page can see these two addresses. Otherwise, you can ask your access provider by phone.

　　2. Clear agent and agent temporary documents

Start the Run window with the Win+r key and execute the "inetcpl.cpl" command to open the Internet Properties window. Under the Connections tab, click the LAN Settings button (Figure 6). After you go to the Local area network (LAN) Settings window, click the Advanced button (Figure 7), in the Proxy Settings window that starts later, delete all of the records (if present), and then click OK (Figure 8).

Next you need to delete the previously used proxy temp file. Press win+x and select command Prompt (Administrator) from the menu to enter the command Prompt window, and enter the following command and return to perform (Figure 9):

netsh winhttp reset proxy

net stop WuAuServ

net start WuAuServ

Small tip:

The function of the first command is to remove all proxy server settings. The latter two commands stop the System Update service and restart the System update service. Wuauserv is the service name of the service that is automatically updated by the system.

　　3. Reset TCP/IP protocol stack Repair Network

Still perform the following command in the Command Prompt window in administrator mode "netsh int ip reset", reset the TCP/IP protocol stack, and reset the network protocol (Figure 10).

　　4. Repair system files or system services

In addition to network problems, it may be due to a corrupted, missing, or system service Cryptographic Services error for the related Windows system files. Can be repaired by the following methods.

First run the "Sfc/scannow" command from the System Administrator Command Prompt window to detect and repair any corrupted or missing system files.

Next, in the form of the command "REGSVR32 C:windowssystem32cryptdlg.dll" (replace the last DLL file in turn), the Dssenh.dll, Gpkcsp.dll, Initpki.dll, Mssip32.dll, Rsaenh.dll, Sccbase.dll, Slbcsp.dll, Softpub.dll, Wintrust.dll system files, and then reboot the system so that Windows reloads the repaired system service Cryptographic services.
