After the last installation of Fedora, XP + Feodra + Ubuntu systems were deployed. However, it was found that the menu of the boot system was grub of fedora, And the ubuntu option was not automatically added. To add ubuntu options, two solutions are provided.

1. Enter fedora to manually add. Run the following command to open the File menu. lst:

Sudo gedit/boot/grub/menu. lst

Add

Title Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-25-generic

Root (hd0, 7)

Kernel/vmlinuz-2.6.35-25-generic root = UUID = 8a00acbf-5189-4cd2-8a4f-1775e93e1877 ro quiet splash

Initrd/initrd. img-2.6.35-25-generic

Note:

1. The title is followed by the title, which can be changed.

2. root (hd0, 7) specifies the location of the boot partition. If you do not have another boot partition when installing ubuntu, it corresponds to the location of your root partition.

3. root = UUID = 8a00 ...... E1877 indicates starting the kernel based on the unique universal identifier of the ubuntu kernel. If it is too long, you can change it to root =/dev/sda8.

Sda8 is the location of the ubuntu root partition.

4. vmlinuz and initrd. img follow the Linux kernel version in ubuntu.

5. For more information about how to view the linux device name corresponding to the root partition or boot partition, see here.

2. re-create grub of ubuntu to manage the Startup menu.

This method is relatively difficult to compare with the first one, but it is more convenient after completion, because after the ubuntu kernel upgrade, the first method cannot be in the menu. the kernel version is automatically updated in lst. Therefore, this method is more practical.

Go to the ubuntu system and run the following command:

Sudo grub-install/dev/sda # install grub to the first hard disk mbr, and the second hard disk is/dev/sdb

Sudo update-grub2 # update grub. cfg to automatically load all systems on the hard disk

Note:

Root (hd0, 7)

Kernel/vmlinuz-2.6.35-25-generic root = UUID = 8a00acbf-5189-4cd2-8a4f-1775e93e1877 ro quiet splash

Initrd/initrd. img-2.6.35-25-generic

Boot

When grub encounters a problem, you can manually enter this command to start the ubuntu system. Modify the location to be modified according to the first method. It is important to remember this section!
