KICKSTART

Kickstart is a dedicated tool for Red Hat Linux. kickstart can be used to set the ks. cfg file.

By reading the configuration file content, Red Hat Linux can be automatically installed on the device.

The administrator can install ks. cfg, the required system files, and other tool and software.

Place it on FTP, HTTP, USB, or CD/DVD to allow the device to be installed with ks. cfg settings.

Therefore, with kickstart and server technology, you can build a large number of deployed functions.

Kickstart can be set using the graphic interface, as shown in the following figure.

The administrator can set ks. cfg step by step as needed.

Several important settings in kickstart, one of which is the source of the file.

The administrator can select CD/DVD, NFS, FTP, HTTP, or hard disk as the file source.

If you want to use NFS, FTP, or HTTP network for installation, set the source file address and directory correctly.

In addition, the administrator can set whether to execute some special scripts before and after installation, such as setting the network.

You can use Pre-Installation Script and Post-Installation Script.

Pre-Installation Script can edit the Script to be executed before Installation.

Post-Installation Script is the Script to be executed after Installation.

After the preceding settings are complete, you can store the ks. cfg file.

Ks. cfg is an editable text file, so the administrator can modify the content after saving it.
