RIP Theory Section

How RIP routing protocols work:

v Regular Updates (periodicupdates): Updates are sent each time a specific period of the cycle is passed.
Neighbor (neighbors): A router that shares the same data.

v Broadcast Update (broadcastupdate): When the router is first activated, it uses the simplest method to send update information to the broadcast address.

v fullRoutingtable update: broadcasts its entire routing table.

RIP metrics vs. Update time:

The maximum number of hops specified in RIP is 15,16 hop as unreachable.

RIP uses the UDP protocol with the port number 520. The information that updates the routing table is sent on average every 30s time.

On the R1 router, first configure the IP address for the interface and add a loopback URL (loopback).

viewing privileged mode by command show ip route if you are viewing in global mode , add do on the front of show .

Note: in R3 is configured to enter the interface f1/0 of the added two-layer board switch , enter the no switchPort command in this interface to turn off the two-layer switching function.
