I. Basic software operations

The main camstudio window is very simple, and common function buttons are clearly displayed here, 1.

Click "Region" in the menu to see four types of capturing:

Region (region): manually select the region to be recorded.

Fixed region (fixed area): Enter the Setting Dialog Box and enter the exact size to determine the selected area. Generally, Set width (width), height (height), and 2.

Note: you can click the select button to select the specified program window to obtain the size.

Window: after this mode is selected, a confirmation dialog box is displayed.

Click "OK". The first time you click the window, the selected recording area is displayed.

Full Screen: Full Screen mode, suitable for recording software teaching.

Now you can start recording. The buttons from left to right on the toolbar of the main window are recording (F8), pausing (F8), and ending (F9 ). For ease of operation, we recommend that you use shortcuts to control the recording process.

After the recording is complete, the system will pop up the Save dialog box. After the recording is complete, the software will automatically call the built-in player to view the video, 4.

Ii. system parameter settings

The basic operation of camstudio is very simple. Click "options" to see the built-in software options. Below we will introduce some important settings:

1. Video options)

The quality of the final output video is directly related here. Click to enter and you will see the 5 dialog box.

Compressor (compression). All installed Avi encoders in the system can be found in the drop-down list. If it contains a Video Encoder with a high compression ratio, such as Xvid MPEG-4 codec, Microsoft MPEG-4 video codec, congratulations, choosing these encodings will eventually generate a smaller AVI file, it does not occupy much hard disk space.

Quality, you can drag the slider left and right to set the video quality. The basic principle is that the default 70% quality can be used for videos operated on computers such as recording Software demos. For example, you can choose 100% quality for videos recorded during QQ video chats.

2. cursor options (cursor option)

When creating a teaching video, you need to enhance the display of the current cursor so that the learner can see the operation process clearly. You can perform the following settings, 6.

After "highlight cursor" is selected, the position of the cursor in the final generated video is automatically highlighted with a yellow dot.

If the cursor does not need to appear in the video, select "Hide cursor (hide the cursor.

3. Audio (sound options)

Two menu options are mutually exclusive by default. The default value is "do not record audio (do not record audio)". If you need to record audio, select "record audio from microphone (audio in the recording microphone )".

3. Add demo comments

To facilitate the creation of teaching demonstration videos, camstudio has some built-in intimate settings. Click "Tools" to view two option menus for adding annotations:

1. Screen annotations (screen comment). After you click this menu, a new window is displayed. You can insert a variety of labels, 7.

Tip: during video recording, you can press the F8 key to pause recording, enable comments, insert the desired image and text, and press the F8 key again to continue recording the video.

3. Add watermark (add watermark)

Click "effects"> "Annotations"> "add watermark" to add a watermark effect to the final video. You can set the watermark in "effects"> "options", for example, 8.

Enter the address of the image to be loaded in "image path". The system supports BMP, GIF, JPG, and PNG images. In the dialog box, click "options" to set the position of the watermark in the video.

Iv. Flash video settings

By default, camstudio records videos in AVI format. We have said that it also supports exporting videos in swf format and can automatically generate matching HTML files. What should I do?

You cannot find the option to save as SwF in the software menu. the rightmost button on the toolbar of the main window is the call button, 9.

Note: After setting is successful, you can see the black and white text in the main window: record to SWF.

In addition, the system has a built-in tool for Converting AVI to SwF. You can click "Tools"> "SWF producer" in the menu to call 10.

After the player loads an AVI Video, click "file"> "convert to SwF" to easily convert the video to swf format.

　　Summary: There are a lot of screen recording tools, but most of them are charged for software. camstudio is not the most powerful, but its open-source and free features make it our first choice and definitely worth using.
