Security personnel discovered the VMware storage permission expansion Vulnerability
Recently, information security researchers found that VMware applications have the Privilege Escalation vulnerability. The affected products include ESXi, Fusion, Player, and Workstation. VMware also calls on users to update the service as soon as possible to avoid attacks with extended permissions.
Researchers found this Kernel Memory vulnerability in HGFS, a shared folder tool on Windows. VMware also said that this vulnerability may increase the permission of Guest OS.
VMware recommends that you temporarily disable the HGFS function and wait for updates to be released.
Currently, affected products include VMware ESXi 6.0, VMware ESXi 5.5, VMware ESXi 5.1, and VMware ESXi 5.0, as well as versions earlier than VMware Workstation 11.1.2, VMware Player, and Fusion 7.1.2.
