For a variety of reasons, you need to change your computer, or even add a computer, when you want to migrate the original system to the new machine, then how should you do it? Here are some of our little experiences

1. Perfect System Migration

If you want to transfer the Windows operating system settings from one computer to another, using the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard is the best approach. You can use the network or mobile storage to transfer files and settings from Internet Explorer, outlookexpress, and other parts of Windows to the appropriate location on another computer. Install the program on the new computer, then select Start * All Programs * "Attachments" * "System Tools" * "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard", and then follow the instructions to complete the operation (see figure).

2. Don't forget your email

What items do you want to transfer in the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard? "Includes settings only", and you chose to use a floppy disk to transfer settings, Windows will only transfer messages if the message in Outlook Express does not have more than a single floppy disk. If you want to transfer the information in Outlook Express to the past, you need to prepare a larger volume of mobile storage.

3. Add all components to install Windows
The Windows operating system you are currently using may not have all the components installed. Open the Explorer or folder window, type Control Panel * Add/Remove Programs (under Windows98, 2000, and me) in the Address bar, or Control Panel * Add or Remove Programs (under Windows XP). Select Windows Settings or Add/Remove Windows components, select an item, and then click Details, if necessary. You may also need to click More details to see more child parts. Mark the item you want to install, and then click OK, and then follow the instructions to complete the operation. During a supplemental installation, you may need to insert a Windows CD.

4. More convenient Disk Cleanup you can create a shortcut to your own cleanup disk, select "Start" * "Run", type "Cleanmgr/sageset:", followed by a 0~65535 number that is used only to determine the option you choose, and then enter. In the Disk Cleanup Settings window, select the items that you want to clean up, and then click OK. The next step is to create a shortcut, click the right mouse button in a blank place on the desktop or in a blank space in the folder window, and then select New * Shortcut in the pop-up menu, type "Cleanmgr/sagerun:x" in the "type the item's location", and put the X Replace the number you just specified. Then follow the prompts to complete the creation of the shortcut.

5. Automatically run System update if you want to automate the system update in Windows XP, right-click on "My Computer" and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu to switch to the Automatic Updates tab. In Windows Me and 2000 (the upgrade package with SP3 or updates installed), open Control Panel, and then double-click the Automatic Updates icon. In Windows 2000 and XP, you only need to open the "keep my computer up to date" project. In all versions of Windows, you can choose from 3 options.

6. The System Restore feature that removes Automatic Updates to Windows automatically establishes a restore point before the update is made. You can turn on System Restore functionality. In the "Select a restore Point" interface, click on the updated date, select the restore point before the system has problems, then click "Next", and finally follow the prompts to complete the restore operation.

7. Adding an update Windows98 or upgrading the package version earlier than SP3 2000 requires the Windows Update Notification software to automatically check for patches. Double-click the Task Scheduler icon in the lower-right corner of the window or in Control Panel, if the software is not in the task list, connect windowsupdate.microsoft.com, select View for updates, and then click Critical Updates and service packs. Find and select the program from.

8. Complete the upgrade manually
You can also manually perform Windows upgrades by looking for patches that you can use to upgrade, either by selecting Start, or "Start" * "All Programs" * "Windows Update", and then connecting to the upgrade site for Windows, which prompts you to complete the upgrade operation.
