Currently, the most installed systems on servers are Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD.
In terms of security:
Windows is a familiar and easy-to-install and configure system, but its security is relatively poor. Once attacked, the entire operating system and all your user accounts will be paralyzed. Linux and FreeBS have relatively high security. If a Web server is cracked by hackers, users on this Web server can still use it. Hackers who break your Web server may still be unable to obtain the root access permission.
Stability:
FreeBSD is more stable than Linux. FreeBSD is used for servers such as YAHOO, 163, and sina. Linux and Windows are prone to crashes when the load exceeds the load.
In terms of price:
Both FreeBSD and Linux are cheaper and cheaper than Windows.
For hardware support:
Windows has the widest support for hardware, while FreeBSD has the least support for hardware. When installing FreeBSD, pay special attention to whether the hardware on the server can be supported. Linux now supports more and more hardware.
From other aspects:
If it is a simple Web server, FreeBSD is better, but it is not very good for the currently most popular mysql in terms of thread library efficiency support. While Linux supports mysql quite well, and its file system is very fast, it is best to be an email server. Windows and Linux are relatively more fun, while FreeBSD is more troublesome.
