Servlet2.3 container list

Servlet2.3 and later versions support listener, and listener is earlier than servlet (with the load-on-startup parameter) in application startup, however, unfortunately, not all containers are so satisfied with the support for servlet2.3.

 

The listener containers supporting servlet 2.3 include:

• Apache Tomcat 4.x
• Jetty 4.x
• Resin 2.1.8 +
• Orion 2.0.2 +

 

Not supported:

• BEA WebLogic up to 8.1
• IBM WebSphere 5.x
• Oracle Solaris 9.0.3

 

The containers with the most commercial applications are the most slow to support servlet. Of course, there are various factors that are at work. However, I am still quite vocal about IBM WebSphere. I ran an application on was4 and found that it only supports servlet2.3, jsp1.1, and IBM JDK 1.3, in addition, it cannot be upgraded, and it takes a lot of effort to change the results.
