Set the root password for Mac OS

I don't know how to forget the Mac OS root password.

Method 1:

First, start the machine and press the apple and S keys to enter the system in single user mode. Enter Mount-UW/and press Enter.
Enter the passwd short user name (if you know). If you do not know the short user name, enter passwd root.

Enter the new password twice.

Enter reboot and press Enter.

Restart the machine.

If you are using root, log on to the "Account" in system preset/system preferences, find the appropriate user, and change the password.


Method 2:

You can log on to the system, but forget the root password. Modify the root password as follows:

Sudo bash
Password: enter your current user password
Bash-3.2 #
Actually nothing, because the login current user is in the sudoers list by default.
