If you do not want to generate your own certificate, you must decide which commercial certification authority you will request for an SSL certificate. Most certification authorities (CAS) charge for this service.
•

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a set of cryptographic techniques that provide authentication, confidentiality, and data integrity. SSL is most commonly used to establish secure communication channels between Web browsers and Web servers. It can also be used between client applications and WEB services.
To support SSL communication, you must configure the SSL certificate for the WEB server. This chapter describes how to obtain an SSL certificate and how to configure the Microsoft®internet Information Service (IIS) to enable secure communication between WEB browsers and other client applications using SSL.
