Win XP has become the preferred operating system for many computer players with its gorgeous Operating Screen and stable performance. However, when using Windows XP, you will find that, as time passes, the operating system becomes slower and slower. How to improve the running speed of Windows XP has become a topic of great concern to users.

1. Speed up startup

Every Time Windows XP is started, the blue scroll bar will walk several times tirelessly. Do you really want it to go a few times in pursuit of efficiency? In fact, we can reduce the rolling time to speed up the startup. Open the Registry Editor, expand the HKEY _ LOCAL _ machine system CurrentControlSet Control Session Manager Memory Management PrefetchParameters branch, and find the EnablePrefetcher sub-key in the right window, change the default value "3" to "1 ". Right-click my computer on the desktop, select the "properties" command, select the "hardware" tab in the window that appears, and click the "Device Manager" button. In the Device Manager window, expand "ide ata/ATAP controller", double-click the "secondary IDE channel" option, and select the "advanced" tab in the displayed dialog box, in "device type" in "device 0", change the original "Automatic Detection" to "NONE", and exit after "OK. The methods for modifying the "Main IDE channel" are the same. Restart the computer now to see if the scrolling time of your scroll bar is reduced? Note: If you use the VIA chip motherboard, you must not modify the "via bus master ide controller" option.

In addition, if you do not choose to create multiple different hardware configuration files, or you want to automatically load the default hardware configuration files during startup without displaying the list items, enter "0" in "seconds" in "hardware configuration file selection. Press the Space key to display the list.

2. Optimize network neighbors

When a Windows XP Network Neighbor is in use, the system first searches for its shared directory and printers that can be used as network shares, and schedules tasks related to the network in the scheduled tasks, this will directly affect the running speed of the computer. Delete it if not necessary. The procedure is as follows: Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ sofeware \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ release e \ RemoteComputer \ NameSpace in the Registry Editor and delete the {2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE08002B30309D} (printer) and {D6277990-4C6A-11CF8D87-00AA0060F5BF} (scheduled task), and then restart the computer, when you access the neighborhood again, it is found that the speed has increased.

3. Speed up on/off

When shutdown in Windows XP, the system will always send a message to the running program and remote server, notifying them that the system is shutting down and the system will start to shut down after receiving a response. If we want to speed up the boot, We can first set the time for automatic task termination. Open the Registry Editor, expand the HKEY_CURRENT _ USER Control Panel Desktop branch, find the AutoEndTasks subkey, and set it to 1. Set the "HungAppTimeout" subkey under the Branch to "1000" and change "WaitTOKillService" to "1000" (default: 5000. In this way, the shutdown speed of the computer can be significantly accelerated.

4. fast switch between different work environments

To meet different needs and adapt to different working environments, you can create multiple hardware configuration files at the same time. In the "hardware configuration file" dialog box, click the "copy" button to back up the current hardware configuration file and rename it. perform this operation in different working environments. Enter the "hardware configuration file" dialog box, move the configuration file with the up and down arrows, and place the most commonly used files at the top, in the "hardware configuration file selection" section, select "Wait for the user to select the hardware configuration file", and restart the computer to view the "hardware configuration file selection menu. This setting method is more practical for laptop users. You can create multiple hardware configuration files suitable for different scenarios. Switching is convenient and greatly improves work efficiency.

5. Increase the bandwidth speed

As we all know, Windows XP of Professional Edition retains 20% of the bandwidth by default. In fact, this does not play a major role for our individual users. It is better to make full use of the Group Policy as follows: Enter gpedit. msc in "Start> Run" to open the Group Policy Editor. Find "Computer Configuration> management template> network> QoS packet scheduler", select "restricted and retained bandwidth" on the right, and select "attribute" to enable the restriction.

In the "retain bandwidth attributes" dialog box, select "Disable. In this way, you can release the reserved 20% bandwidth.

6. Clear unnecessary hardware information in the system

In daily work, the use of plugging hardware devices is often the case, so that the process of repeatedly installing the driver will leave a lot of hardware registration information in the system, leading to slow down the system speed, how can we clear the redundant hardware information? First, click "copy" button backup (Profile 2) and rename it. For example, change to Profile and restart the computer. The prompt "1. Profile. 2. Profile1 3. None of the above. Here, "1" and "2" are existing hardware configuration files in the system. of course, we choose "3 ", in this way, you can have Windows re-check the hardware. The "Check hardware" dialog box appears, prompting "it may take several minutes". The "configure settings" dialog box appears later, the following message is displayed: "the configuration of the new computer is successfully set, and the name is Profile1." click "OK" to reinstall the driver of the hardware device. Finally, delete the two hardware configuration files except Profile1 to prevent you from asking which hardware configuration file you are using when starting the system.
