After installing PDM, You need to design several items for easy use.

1. Do not associate the name with the code automatically. We do not want the associated code to change when entering the name.

Open Tools-> General Options-> Dialog and remove the Name to Code sorting check.

2. In the automatically generated SQL statement, you do not want the table name and column name to contain double quotation marks.

Choose Database-> Edit current database-> Script-> SQL-> Format. There is a CaseSensitivityUsingQuote whose comment is "Determines if the case sensitivity for identifiers is managed using double quotes ", indicates whether double quotation marks are used to specify the case sensitivity of the identifier. You can see that the value of values on the right is "YES" by default and changed to "No!

Concept data model (CDM)

Physical Data Model (PDM)

Business Program Model (BPM)
BPM describes different internal tasks and internal processes of the business, and how the customer interacts with these tasks and processes. BPM is a conceptual model of business logic and rules from the perspective of business partners. It uses a chart to describe the interaction between programs, processes, information and cooperation protocols.

Forward Engineering
You can directly generate a database from PDM or a database script that can run in your database management system environment. You can generate database scripts. If you select ODBC, you can directly connect to the database to directly generate database tables and other database objects.

Reverse Engineering
Generate existing databases into the new PDM. The data source may be from a script file or an open database connection data source.

Not every design requires Power Designer. For example, a small system or a small number of tables does not need to use Power Designer.
