Several issues encountered with installing Oracle Developer suit under Windows 7/vista

Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g was developed prior to Windows 7/vista, and some of the problems, common problems, and workarounds in the installation process under Win7/vista are as follows:

Issue 1:checking operating system version:must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.1

Install form Builder 10g under Win7/vista, click Setup.exe installation, error:

Workaround:

Modify X:\ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1\install\oraparam.ini

Add 6.1 to Certified versions in the Windows entry

Workaround:

Right-Setup.exe, properties, set "Run this program in compatibility Mode" In the Compatibility tab, and select Windows XP

Problem 3:checking swap space:0 MB available, MB required. Failed <<<<

Workaround:

Virtual memory needs to be set manually , if the VM is automatically managed by the system, Oracle installer does not recognize

1. Advancedsystem Settings , system -I, Open Control Panel .
2. In performance section click Settings , advanced.
3. In the Virtual Memory section, click Change.
4. Uncheck the check box "Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers".

5. Choose "Custom Size".
6. Specify the value for: Initial size and Maximum size .
7. Press "Set".
