Several reasons why Linux is difficult to popularize

The following are some reasons why Linux is difficult to popularize-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. 1. There are many release versions and there is no unified user experience.
This is a good thing and a bad thing. On the one hand, different release versions provide different operation experiences, satisfying people's different tastes and curiosity. On the other hand, too many release versions make people feel at a loss, especially for those who are interested, changing a release version may even have many differences for different versions of the same Linux, and requires a lot of Configuration Adjustment work, which greatly hinders people's confidence in accepting Linux, many new users are blocked. Windows is different. For versions in different periods, relatively unified operation interfaces are easy to use. In any part of the world, Windows systems of any version are used, you can quickly get familiar with operations and do not encounter too many obstacles when you finish your work.
2. The free software library has a large amount of content, but the access channel is relatively single.
Thanks to the open-source protocol, Linux has developed a large number of application software, free and open-source for countless fans from all over the world. These are two major advantages of Linux. However, compared with applications in Windows operating systems, they can be obtained through a wide range of channels, such as networks, genuine and pirated discs, the main channel for software in Linux is the network (Linux was prepared for network applications at the beginning), but it is not so rich in the important software media such as CD. This is very important for developing countries that are not widely used in such networks as China. As a result, Linux users lack rich application resources and no application resources, the two advantages of Linux are greatly reduced: open source and free.
3. Non-"native" graphic interface support
Linux has been running in the form of text command lines since the beginning. The graphic interface is not the core of Linux, but equivalent to an application. This results in a significant increase in Linux stability and resource usage during graphic interface running. Even in the graphic interface, the installation methods of applications vary with different versions, and some methods cannot be used, even many programs still need to be installed in the command line. Compared to Windows, which uses the GUI as the core at the beginning, the operation experience is quite different (including program running speed, installation method, and stability ). These affect migration from Windows users to Linux. Of course, many Linux publishers have begun to develop uniform installation methods. This is a good trend. If it succeeds, we believe it will greatly enhance the availability of Linux.
Everything has two sides. Free and free Linux reduces the user's material investment, while too many complicated operations increase the user's use cost; while Windows systems are much more expensive than free Linux systems, the easy-to-use features and unified operation experience still attract a large number of users. They are like two types of social systems. One is a democratic republican system and the other is a centralized empire system. No system is perfect, and the two systems have their own strengths. for a long period of time to come, I believe that the two systems will coexist and develop, and even learn from each other, the important thing is that they are all being improved, and users will also benefit from this.
