Third, with "Microsoft Photo Editor"

WORD2000/XP provides a tool specifically for image processing--microsoft Photo Editor, which lets you easily save pictures that are inserted into a Word document and specify the format of the picture.

Under the Office "typical" installation, Photo Editor is not installed with the Office tool, so we must add it separately. Insert the Office installation CD, automatically run into office Maintenance mode, select Add or Remove Features, and in the Update Features wizard step, expand the Office Tools list to set Photo editor to run from My computer.

After the installation is complete, reopen word, click tools → options → edit, select photo Editor from the Drop-down list, and use it as the default image processing tool. (see chart below)

Set the photo editor to the default picture editor, select the picture you want to save or convert in your Word document, and choose Edit Picture from the right-click menu, when Word automatically calls photo editor to open the picture and select Save As from the File menu.
