So how can we see the "Penguin" outside the window in Windows, and how can we let the "Penguin" into the window? In this article, we will discuss with you how to share resources in Linux (taking Red hat FC1 as an example) and Windows operating systems.

Access Windows resources in Linux

Because the Linux kernel supports reading and writing file systems such as Fat, NTFS, Vfat, and Fat32, therefore, to access resources in Windows in Linux, you only need to directly use Samba, a tool that is responsible for intercommunication with Windows hosts. The process can be divided into the following three steps:

Step 1: Install the Samba component

Insert the second installation disc of Red Hat into the optical drive, and click the "Main Menu", "system settings", and "manage/delete Applications" menu items (1) in the open "software package management" dialog box, find and check the "Windows File Server" option and click the "Update" button. Then, please wait patiently until the installation of the Samba software package is complete.

In this step, we can use the Samba service through command line, or open a window at will. In the address bar, enter "smb: // 192.168.1.21 and press Enter to access Shared resources on a specific computer. Note that in the pop-up "verification required" dialog box, you must enter the user name and password that have permission to access the remote computer to perform operations on the resources shared by the remote computer, 3.
