Finally, a self-owned server is assembled. The configuration is as follows:
CPU: P4 530j
Motherboard: ultrafine p8sct
Memory: Kingston DDR2 533 512 MB * 2
Hard Disk: Seagate st3160827as 160 GB * 2
Chassis: 1u chassis (P4 heat sink, W power supply)
Total fee: 1500 + 2050 + 1170 + 1720 + 1450 = 7890 RMB
I wanted to build it into Xeon, but I bought this chassis very early on. The CPU fan is blown from the right. It is not suitable for general Xeon boards, and the cost of Xeon is high, forced by economic and practical conditions, P4 had to be installed.
I learned the Dudu lesson and didn't buy an Asus motherboard. I bought a new p8sct motherboard (note: the chipset is e7221 + fw82801fr, which belongs to the entry-level server motherboard and should ensure stability ), the motherboard supports 64-bit P4, but it is of little significance to install 64-bit, so 530j is used.
The main board only supports DDR2, so the cost of the entire machine is increased. Fortunately, the DDR2 memory is greatly reduced, so it is acceptable. The motherboard also has a 64-bit PCI-X slot that leaves space for later upgrades to the SCSI hard disk.
At the same time, the motherboard supports SATA arrays, array modes raid0, raid1, and raid10. for servers, data security is the most important. Therefore, I chose two hard disks to form raid1 and used Seagate st3160827as, this hard drive supports the ncq function, and the motherboard also supports enabling the ncq. However, due to the recent shortage of this hard drive in a large area, I finally bought it at the general distribution of Seagate, which is expensive, it is a 5-year boxed package and should be guaranteed.
It should be noted that during the installation of raid1, the best thing is to check the consistency of the generated Logical Disk in the BIOS. Note that the Logical Disk should be initialized before the check (note that it is not formatted ), in addition, the quick initialization function is disabled. Otherwise, the consistency check may fail. However, after the quick initialization function is disabled, the initialization time is greatly extended. I spent six hours on two GB instances! However, after initialization, the consistency check should be passed and the operating system will be installed only after the check is passed. (Note: The consistency check can check the data difference between the two hard disks in Raid 1 and fix it)
The chassis has five powerful sunon fans, so the noise is so high that I am crazy. However, the temperature is acceptable. The standby CPU temperature is 47 degrees, and the CPU temperature is 70 degrees when the CPU usage rate is 100% (note that testing at room temperature is not in the data center)
There is also the original fan that blocks the power outlet, But I drilled two more holes and moved the fan right to a fan position, which is just suitable.
This is my first time with a 1u server. It is definitely not perfect. At the same time, I hope it will be helpful for Dudu to upgrade the server. The following are some images of the server:
