VMware provides three types of Internet connections: Bridging, NAT, and Hostonly. after RedHat9 is installed, there will be two more virtual NICs in your network connection: VMwareNetworkAdapterVMnet1 and VMwareNetworkAdapterVMnet8, And the XP host system will randomly allocate a private network address to the two virtual NICs. (Do not change these two addresses) first, you need to share your real physical network card. Only VMware provides three types of Internet Configuration: Bridging, NAT, and Hostonly. after RedHat9 is installed, there will be two more virtual NICs in your Network connection: VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 and VMware Network Adapter VMnet8, in addition, the XP host system randomly assigns a private network address to the two virtual NICs. (Do not change these two addresses) first, you need to share your real physical Nic for further configuration. The specific operation is: local connection --> properties --> advanced --> Internet Connection Sharing. Both are checked and shared to VMware Network Adapter vmnet1. Bridge: This method is the easiest way to bridge a virtual network card to a physical network card. Therefore, the RedHat network configuration is exactly the same as your XP configuration. For example, if I configure XP as an IP Address: The Mask of 197.126.130.56 is 255.255.255.0, the gateway is 197.126.130.1, and my RedHat configuration is an IP Address: the Mask of 197.126.130.57 is 255.255.255.0. The Gateway is 197.126.130.1. The other DNS configurations are the same as those of the host. In this case, you need two public IP addresses. NAT: This method virtualizes an XP host into a vro, including VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 and VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 to help you forward data packets. Therefore, your RedHat9 and VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 must be configured with a CIDR block. For example, if the private address assigned by the XP host system to my VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 is 192.168.70.1 and the mask is 255.255.255.0, the address above RedHat9 should be 192.168.70.2 (up to 254 ), the mask is 255.255.255.0. The Gateway is 192.168.70.1 (the address of VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 must be entered for the gateway because it is forwarded through VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 ). DNS is the same as that of the XP host. Hostonly mode: Generally, the bridging and NAT modes are enough for you to access the Internet. However, according to the VMware documents, hostonly can also be accessed over the Internet. I have no experiments, so it is hard to say anything about it. I hope you will try again later.
