Simply put, the shared configuration under Windows Server 2008 is what makes it possible to quickly deploy a large number of the same Web sites based on an underlying web site. To give a simple example, for example, there are two IIS servers, the first IIS has a Web site name test, the 2nd IIS does not have a Web site, we configure the shared configuration, by refreshing the 2nd IIS server out of the first name of the test site, and no matter you are in any server change configuration, will automatically sync to another IIS server. The reason is simple, because they are using the same configuration file, which is the shared configuration.

It sounds fantastic, let's take a simple example and experience the extraordinary power of this magical gadget together.

1, new two shared Folders "test" and "share", test save my Web page file, share save configuration file;

2, in the first IIS on a new Web site, the name of test, the path to the shared Test folder path and set the credentials of the connection, the settings can be viewed on the machine;

3, configure the shared configuration, double-click the shared configuration. Click "Export Configuration", we first export the configuration file. Fill in the previous shared file at the physical path and fill in the encrypted key, click Connect to set the credentials for the connection, and click OK. Configure the location, enable the shared configuration, and fill in the relevant information, enter the password for the encryption key.

At this point, the first IIS server is configured to complete.

4, configure the 2nd IIS server. First, make sure that the 2nd IIS server does not have a Web site, which means it is empty. Next, click on the shared configuration, fill in the relevant information and enter the encryption key, click Refresh.

So far, the Web site we built on the first IIS server named Test came out. It's as simple as this, and it's unthinkable to finish the work before you have a tool that's so well shared.

Small tip:

1 Use the shared Configuration feature only if you are using IIS Manager on your local computer instead of remotely connecting to your computer.

2 If you want to use IIS Manager to perform the procedures in this section, you must be a server administrator.

Enabling shared configuration is simple. In the server node of IIS Manager, select shared configuration under the Administration section of the task pane. Simply select Enable shared configuration to provide the physical path to the configuration that you want to share (typically a UNC share), and then enter the credentials required to access the physical path and click Apply. When you locate the. config file, you are prompted for an encrypted password. After you complete this procedure, restart IIS Manager so that it picks up the new. config.

In fact, for the shared configuration of IIS under Windows Server 2008, we can get a deeper understanding of the following three areas.
