One of the most challenging aspects of maintaining SharePoint deployment is to understand why certain events occur in the environment. Usually IT professionals and developers can only know when the events occur and execute various tasks, for example, you can parse performance counters, events, and diagnostic logs, or execute Transact-SQL statements for the "usage" database to infer the events and causes generated from time. These tasks are usually completed using a lot of tools, such as Excel and log analysis.ProgramSQL Server Management studio and some other tools, while IT professionals and developers face the challenge of associating and compressing the information into meaningful formats, however, large and complex server farm environments make these tasks more difficult.
The most frequently accessed solution is used to discover and solve problems in the server farm environment, including SharePoint health analyzer and Systems Center Operations Manager.
The next version of the SharePoint Management Kit (Version 2.0) includes the new SharePoint diagnostics studio. SharePoint diagnostics Studio provides the layer 3rd that can be implemented to support these processes and solutions.
In the new version of the SharePoint management toolkit, we introduced a new and revised SharePoint diagnostics studio, which has made great progress compared with the previous diagnostic toolkit. The next-generation SharePoint diagnostic tool (SharePoint diagnostics studio) provides server diagnostic information in an intuitive and structured manner, this allows developers and IT professionals to quickly diagnose and take actions on intermittent performance, reliability, and functionality issues in the SharePoint 2010 environment.
SharePoint diagnostics Studio provides unprecedented depth, allowing you to remotely present each request on each machine with the minimum permissions. This depth and purpose allow IT professionals or developers to quickly discover and isolate problems without accessing physical hardware that supports basic environments.
SharePoint diagnostics studio collects and integrates event and diagnostic (ULS) logs and information in the "usage" database, and uses a graphical user interface (supports definition and views of problems affecting deployment through a single view) to present the information.
SharePoint diagnostics Studio provides a variety of reports designed to address the most common problems that affect functionality, performance, availability, and usage, you can use the reports separately or in combination to discover and isolate problems in the SharePoint environment.
SharePoint diagnostics Studio provides five different reports:
1. Basic Report
2. Capacity report
3. Performance Report
4. Availability Report
5. usage report
Integrated search allows you to quickly understand issues that occur during the request lifecycle, allowing IT professionals or developers to follow the most common conditions (including dates and times, related IDs, and source Users).
Snapshots and exports in SharePoint diagnostics studio support offline information collection.
Context-related help provides guidance on the use and usage of each report.
