Access|select| Error | Solution has always wanted to move Chinatown Chinese forum to 1and1 server. It was free today to send all the files, but the trial ran with the following error message:

Selected collating sequence not supported by the operating system.

Google a bit, found that I have not only a person with this problem. The main reason is that I now use the web hosting company is in English operating system English OS. The access files used by the Forum are attached to the web, and the implication is made under the Chinese operating system. According to Microsoft's official website, if access is created in one language and used in a different language, this error is prompted. My original web hosting company is in support of Chinese, so it has been all right.

Microsoft's technical explanation please see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/141306/EN-US/

According to Microsoft's recommended solution, I knew it was impossible for me to have 1and1 install multiple language support packages--because I used to give them a call to the Technical support department (last time I asked why my access was garbled in Chinese) and I was told they would not install the Chinese package specially for me.

It seems that this time have their own hands, ample clothing. Here are some of the things I've been doing to solve this problem.

Since Microsoft says it's because of the language environment that created the database file, can I open a new file in the same language environment? At this point, the "same locale" I was thinking of was the same OS language environment. Because I now use English WinXP, should be with my new web hosting company of a language operating system. To confirm the idea, create a new Access file and upload the new Access file to the server, and find the same problem. Conclusion: The problem is not the language version of the operating system.

Keep looking for the reason. Since my English WinXP is not a good document, it seems that the difference is in access. I think the difference between me and the server is probably that my XP has been installed with Chinese language support, which has caused access to be a little different in processing. Take a closer look at Microsoft's technical explanations as if they mentioned the problem of sorting data (the New Database sort order). I immediately open my Access program, then click "Tools"--> "options" and discover that my New Database Sort order is Chinese Character rather than general. Now you see: The problem is that the default ordering of new files that are supported by different languages is different.

For a smooth solution to my problem:
1, open any of my Microsoft Access files, then click "Tools", select Options, and then select General items. Notice the New Database Sort order dropdown box at the bottom right, and select General. Then turn off the file. (Note that the options can only be used if a file is open)
2), then "File"--> "New ..." Create a blank data file and then "file"--> "Get External Data"--"Import", open my old database file, upload all tables to the new file, and then save the new file. I'm going to do this because I have a lot of data in my forum and I don't want to start over. If you encounter this type of problem when you create a new forum or create a new system, you can create a new table or write the initial data in SQL query.
3), save the new file, and upload it to the server.
4), Fix it!
