Shell Selection Method

Enter the following command to understand the shell currently logged on:

$ Echo $ Shell

/Bin/bash

The system uses bash shell. There are many other shells. You only need to enter the new shell command (Ksh, tcsh, CSH, sh, Bash, etc.) in the current shell to activate a different shell.

If you do not like the default shell, you only need to enter the name of the shell you want to use. To change the shell permanently, you can use the usermod command. For example, change shell to CSH shell for user **. As the root user, you can enter the following command in shell:

# Usermod-S/bin/CSH **

You can also modify/sbin/SH in/etc/passwd to your preferred shell.
