Shell Text Word Count

The contents of the Words.txt are as follows:

The day is sunny the the the the and the   Sunny is

Count the occurrences of each word and output in descending order.

The Unix pipes script is as follows:

Cat TR ' ' ' \ n ' Sort Uniq Sort awk ' {print $, $ $} '

Script Explanation:

TR ' ' ' \ n '       

Indicates that consecutive occurrences of the space remain only one, and the text is split in a space by a line break   

Sort

Means: Sort the output text

Uniq -C

Represents: counts consecutive occurrences of repeated rows

Sort -R

Means: Sort the output text in descending order

awk ' {print $, $ $} '

Print out the second and first columns of the text
