This article describes the shortcut keys for working with documents and Web pages in Word.
• Create, view, and save documents
CTRL + N
Creates a new document that is the same as the current or most recently used document type.
Ctrl+o
Open the document.
Ctrl+w
Closes the document.
Alt+ctrl+s
Splits the document window.
Alt+shift+c
Undo the Split document window.
Ctrl+s
Save the document.
• Find, replace, and browse text
Ctrl+f
Find content, formatting, and special items.
Alt+ctrl+y
Repeat lookup (after closing the Find and Replace window).
Ctrl+h
Replaces text, specific formatting, and special items.
Ctrl+g
Navigate to a page, bookmark, footnote, table, note, graphic, or other location.
Alt+ctrl+z
If you use Word as your e-mail editor, you can switch between documents, or parts of the document, and between a document and an open e-mail message.
Alt+ctrl+home
Open a list of browse options, use the arrow keys to select an option, and then press Enter to browse the document using the selected options.
• Undo and redo Operations
Esc
Cancels the operation.
Ctrl+z
Undo the previous action.
Ctrl+y
Recovery or repeat operation.
• Switch to another view
Alt+ctrl+p
Switch to Print Layout view Page view: A view of a document or other object that is the same as the printing effect. For example, items such as headers, footers, columns, and text boxes appear in their actual positions. )。
Alt+ctrl+o
Switch to outline view outline view: Outline view represents the level of the title in the document structure as indented document headings. You can also use outline view to work with master documents. )。
Alt+ctrl+n
Switch to normal view normal view: A view that displays text formatting and simplifies the page. Normal view facilitates most editing and formatting. )。
Alt+r
Switch to Reading view.

Expand or collapse the subdocument in the master document.
• Outline View
In outline view, click
Alt+shift+ LEFT Arrow
Raise the paragraph level.
alt+shift+ RIGHT Arrow
Lower the paragraph level.
Ctrl+shift+n
Demote to body.
alt+shift+ Up ARROW
Moves the selected paragraph up.
Alt+shift+ DOWN ARROW
Moves the selected paragraph down.
alt+shift++ (plus)
Expands the text under the heading.
alt+shift+-(minus)
Collapses the text under the title.
Alt+shift+a
Expands or collapses all text or headings.
Slash (/) on the numeric keypad
Hides or displays character formatting.
Alt+shift+l
Displays the first line body or all body text.
Alt+shift+1
Displays all headings with the Heading 1 style.
Alt+shift+n
Displays all headings from "Heading 1" to "title n".
