Should I use Microsoft Office on Ubuntu? Install the official Web application.
Whether you like it or not, Microsoft Office and its file format are required for most work and learning environments, whether it is easy to use or not
By using the LibreOffice application suite, it is basically feasible to read, edit, and save these proprietary file formats on Ubuntu. Writer, Calc, and Impress can communicate with Microsoft Office to varying degrees. Although in my practical experience (Fortunately, it is very short), it is not perfect.
Sometimes you will have to use Microsoft Office (although most of us are open to standards, but we should not ignore the actual problem), but if you do not want to buy a complete Microsoft Office license, and run it through WINE, so Microsoft's online network application is the perfect solution.
Install Microsoft online office software on Ubuntu ###
To make it easier to access these online versions from the Ubuntu Desktop, the "Linux Web application project" creates a small, unofficial installation program. It can add shortcuts for Web applications ("Beautiful bookmarks") to your application starters.
By using shortcuts, you can open the corresponding Microsoft Web Application in your default browser. It cannot be simpler. Sounds good, right? You can find shortcuts for these Web applications:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- OneDrive
- Calendar
- OneNote
- People
The software package also creates a new application category to accommodate these links, which not only allows you to separate these shortcuts from other applications, it is directly located under common "office software" applications.
Are these essential? Not necessarily. Are they useful? It depends on your work needs. But is it a good choice? Yes.
You can download the. deb file installer from the following link. Applicable to Ubuntu14.04 LTS and later versions.

A similar alternative is to install the online office application of the Chrome official online App Store, and then add the app starter to Linux. This will also create startup shortcuts for them in Dash, but those can be set to open their own window frameworks without installing any third-party software packages.
At the same time, Google recently integrated the complete Office functions (because it purchased QuickOffice) to its own documents, slides and form applications. The Android app Quickoffice exited the stage and appeared again in Chrome extension mode.
If you are a deep Google network hard drive/document user, this solution may be better for you.
