Hardware structure:
Fic8120 is a highly integrated hardware MPEG4 codec Soc. The core is the MPEG4/JPEG video codec hardware engine and the powerful fa526 Proteus 32bit CPU (arm922 ). The codec engine supports MPEG4 real-time Encoding/decoding, which can reach 30fps and the compression resolution is 720 × 480. In addition, the chip integrates Multiple Single-Chip stream processing, external control commands, motion monitoring and other technologies.
The fic8120 adopts a 0.18 micron process. The coding and decoding power consumption at full speed is only 0.6 W, and the heat value is quite low. It is suitable for harsh environments.
Fic8120 has a built-in 100 k gate circuit MPCA (equivalent to FPGA programmable logic circuit). The system uses 25% of the circuit to implement the input OSD, ccir601 input, YCbCr to rgbconverter, 16 bitrgb output interface, bypass mode and other functions. You can also use the application functions required by the circuit design of the remaining 75%.
System Interface

Fic8120 codec engine and fa526 use the same system memory, saving MPEG4 from the popular dual-chip solution (MPEG4 + CPU). MPEG4 needs to be independently connected to flash and SDRAM to reduce BOM costs, it also reduces system complexity. The size of the fic8120 plug-in memory can be expanded by users themselves. Flash supports 64 m and SDRAM supports 512 M.

The flow of fic8120 data streams can be divided into different directions: if the source of the content is a CMOS sensor, the DMA of the capture module in fic8120 directly sends the video to the SDRAM controller. If the source of the provided content is a TV, video recorder, DVD or CCD camera, the DMA of the capture module in fic8120 can send the video to the SDRAM Controller through the saa7113 chip. Fic8120 has designed a hardware preview path to directly transmit the video stream to the display module. You can see the recorded video on the LCD display. The video stream is stored in a certain amount in the SDRAM and then sent to the MPEG4 encoder for encoding, because we directly send the video of the capture module to the SDRAM Controller, instead of through the AHB Bus, therefore, even if you record an image of 720x480, the bandwidth is guaranteed.
