Dreamweaver MX 2004 is a site creation and management tool, so you can use it not only to create separate documents, but also to create a complete Web site. The first step in creating a Web site is planning. For best results, you should design and plan your site's structure before creating any Web site pages. Decide how many pages to create, what to display on each page, how the page layout looks and how the page is connected to each other.

To define a local folder by using the Site Definition Wizard

Do the following:

Start Dreamweaver MX 2004:

Select Site > Manage sites (that is, choose Manage Sites from the site menu). The Manage Sites dialog box appears.

In the Manage Sites dialog box, click New, and then choose Sites from the pop-up menu. The Site Definition dialog box appears. The following figure:

If the dialog box displays the Advanced tab, click Basic. The first interface of the Site Definition wizard appears, requiring you to enter a name for the site.

In the text box, enter a name to identify the site in Dreamweaver MX 2004. The name can be any name that you want.

Click "Next". The next wizard interface appears, asking if you want to use server technology.

Select the no option to indicate that the site is currently a static site with no dynamic pages.

Click "Next". The next wizard interface appears, asking how you want to use your files.

Select the option labeled "Edit the local copy on my computer and upload it to the server (recommended)." In the site development process there are a variety of ways to deal with files, beginners web-made friends Please select this option.

Click the folder icon next to the text box. The Select Local root folder for Site dialog box appears.

Click Next to appear in the next wizard interface, asking how you can connect to a remote server. Choose None from the pop-up menu. You can set up information about the remote site at a later time. At present, local site information is sufficient to begin creating a Web page.

Click Next, and the next screen of the wizard will appear with your settings profile.

Click Finish to complete the setup. The Manage Sites dialog box appears, displaying your new site. Click Finish to close the Manage Sites dialog box.

Now, a local root folder has been defined for your site. Next, you can edit your own web page.
