Six Classic problems of mutual access in LAN

Network management has always been very concerned about the issue of mutual access in LAN. Recently, many netizens have raised similar issues, mainly because Windows 98 cannot access Windows XP, or windows or Windows XP cannot access Windows XP, the following describes the solutions to these mutual access failures.

Question 1: How to use hardware exclusion

The ping Command combined with the NIC lamp can verify whether it is hardware or software.

Check the NIC light first. If one is not on, the NIC is faulty. If only the signal light of the network card is not on, click Start> Run and enter ping peer IP-t (the actual input is not enclosed in quotation marks ), if the "Request time out" appears four times in a row in the prompt (the Request is paused // times out), it indicates that the physical line is disconnected or the network is too busy to cause blocking. You can use a wire measuring instrument to further check the network cable and network head and troubleshoot faults one by one.

Question 2: What if the protocol is missing?

Protocols required for LAN mutual access: TCP/IP (IPX/SPX, Novell Network and some online games need to set this protocol when necessary) and NetBIOS.

1. NetBIOS protocol

In Windows XP, the NetBIOS protocol is not supported by default, but many small networks currently use this protocol. The method is as follows:

(1) copy the nbf. sys file in the Valueadd \ MSFT \ Net \ netbeui directory of the Windows XP installation disc to the \ system32 \ Drivers directory of the system;

(2) Copy netnbf. inf to the \ lnf directory of the system, and then perform the operation as usual by adding the Protocol (the network neighbor has the option to add the protocol, or directly add the Windows installation disk in the optical drive ).

2. NetBEUI Protocol

This communication protocol is a product of the Windows 95/98 era. It is no longer available in Windows XP (but NetBEUI-related files are still stored on Windows XP ), some local networks must have NetBEUI to access some or all computer information on the network. Therefore, you must install NetBEUI. The method is as follows:

On the Windows XP installation disc, go to the "valueaddmsftnetbeui" directory and paste Netnbf. copy inf to C: \ Windows \ INF. copy sys to C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Drivers. Click Start> Control Panel> network neighbors, select network connection, and right-click LAN connection, select the content. In "General", click "Install> communication Protocol> Add". Then, you can see "NetBEUI Protocol". Select NetBEUI and click "OK.

Question 3: How to Handle setup errors

Make sure that the IP addresses of all computers are in the same network segment and that all computers are in the same working group (or domain). Before changing the working group, if your computer is already a member of the domain, the Administrator should detach you from the domain and disable your computer account. To modify a workgroup, you must log on as an administrator.

In addition, make sure that the firewall is not set to a high level. Otherwise, the necessary communication port may be closed. We recommend that you turn it off and try again.

Question 4: How can I install the service?

To achieve the purpose of sharing, it is essential to install the Microsoft network file and print service. The steps are as follows: Go to "Control Panel> Local Connection> Properties> install", and click "service> Add" in the "select network component type" dialog box ", in the select Network Service dialog box, click the service to be installed.

Question 5: Do you want to distinguish between domain networks?

Lan includes two types of networks with and without domain names. For a domain network, you should also log on to the "Main Network" in the "network" attribute, select "Microsoft network user" to ensure that the domain name is correct.

Question 6: What should I do if my account is incorrect?

If it is connected to the Internet, we recommend that you do not enable the Guest account. If it is only used within the LAN, you can enable it directly. This makes access easier, but there are also many precautions.

1. Enable the Guest user

You can enter only the account Guest to log on (mutual access ). However, make sure that the following policies are enabled.

Click Start> Run and enter gpedit. msc to open the Group Policy. Click "Computer Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Settings> Local Policies> Security Options" and find "account: local users with blank passwords can only log on to the console ". When enabled, it cannot be remotely accessed with a blank password.

2. unban Guest

(1) Open the Group Policy, click "Computer Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Settings> Local Policies> User Rights Assignment", and double-click "Deny access to this computer from the network, check whether there is a Guest. If yes, delete it.

(2) In the above group policy, double-click the "Access this computer from network" item to check whether there is a Guest. If not, add it.

(3) still in Group Policy, click "Computer Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Options" and double-click "Network Access: sharing and security modes of Local Accounts ", change the default value "Guest only> guest identity verification for local users" to "classic> Local User identity verification ".

In addition, if you can only see the Windows XP computer file directory, but cannot enter the folder. This is because Windows XP uses a simple file sharing method by default. You can modify it: in "Resource Manager", click "Tools> Folder Options" and on the "View" tab, remove the hooks before "use simple file sharing (recommended)" in "Advanced Settings.
