The latest version of Ubuntu has been released: Ubuntu 13.04, codenamed Raring Ringtail. As a behind-the-scenes company developing Ubuntu Linux, Canonical has been well positioned in setting a series of default values for newly installed systems, however, you may want to add or modify the newly installed operating system in several ways.

1. Adjust privacy settings.
After installing Ubuntu, you may want to adjust the privacy settings. By default, when you enter a search result in the Dash (tray), Ubuntu provides online search results. Each search is processed by the Canonical server. It is a good idea to disable this feature.
Click the Settings icon (the one with the gear and wrench) on the Launcher ). Click "Privacy" in the pop-up System Settings window ). Close "Include online search results" (including online search results) and "Record Activity" in this menu ).
2. Remove the Amazon shopping filter.
This feature seems redundant for the above, but it seems to me to be a good idea. Once you disable online search results, you should see any products sold on the Amazon website in your tray. I still prefer to remove this feature.
Open the terminal window and enter the following command to remove the Amazon Shopping Lens from Unity Dash.
Sudo apt-get remove unity-lens-shopping
Log out and log on again. When you search for Dash, you should not see the results from the Amazon website. However, unless you disable online Search results, you will still see the promotion content of the Amazon website in the Video Search section.
