Install NetBEUI

NetBEUI communication protocols are the product of the Win95/98 era. WinXP does not have such protocols (but NetBEUI is still on WinXP), and some local networks, netBEUI is required to access some or all computers in the network. Therefore, you need to install NetBEUI:

On the WinXP installation disc, go to the "valueaddmsftnetbeui" directory and paste Netnbf. copy inf to C: WindowsINF; copy Nbf. copy sys to C: WindowsSystem32Drivers; press start/control panel/network neighbor, select network connection, right-click local connection, and select content; in "General", select "Install", select "Communication Protocol", and press "add". Then, you can see "NetBEUI Protocol". After selecting NetBEUI, click "OK.

Encrypted files and folders

Encrypted files and folders prevent unauthorized users from reading the files and folders. In Windows, you can encrypt files or folders by opening "Windows Resource Manager", right-clicking the file or folder you want to encrypt, and selecting "properties, click the "advanced" button on the "General" tab and select the "encrypt content to protect data" check box (this operation applies only to NTFS file systems ).

When you encrypt a folder, the system will ask if you want to encrypt all the files and subfolders in the folder at the same time. If you choose to do so, all files or subfolders in the current folder and to be added in the future will be encrypted. If you select to only encrypt the folder, the files and subfolders in the folder will not be encrypted, but any files and subfolders added to the folder will be encrypted later. When you encrypt a single file, the system will also ask if you want to encrypt the folder containing it at the same time. If you choose to do so, all files and subfolders added to the folder will be automatically encrypted.

Set a folder as a dedicated folder

By default, all folders in Windows XP are open, that is, all users on the machine can use them, which undoubtedly makes important personal data of some users face a serious threat. To this end, Windows XP has added a feature called "folder-specific", which means that after a folder is set to "dedicated folder" in the NTFS file system, this folder can only be used by this user, while other users cannot use it after logging on to Windows XP, which provides convenience for protecting important personal information. To assign a dedicated user to a folder, move the folder to the "x: Documents and Settings USERNAME \" folder (x refers to the partition of the Windows XP installation file ), right-click the folder and select the "properties" option. On the "share" tab, select the "set this folder as a person, so that only I can access it" check box. In this way, when other users log on to Windows XP and want to enter this folder, they will receive a "Access Denied" Warning.

Add five input methods

WinXP does not provide five input methods. It requires five plug-ins. When you need to open five input methods, it is inconvenient to run the five input methods program. Solution:

First! Wnmwnmime. copy ime (the directory where the five input methods are installed) to the Windowssystem32 folder, back up the registry, modify the registry, and under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlKeyboard Layouts, right-click a new item in the blank window on: e0060804, and then right-click E0060804 to create four new string values:

IME file key value input: wnmime. ime

Layout Display Name the key value input is: five input methods

Layout File key value input: KBDUS. DLL

Layout Text the key value input is: five input methods

Close the registry, right-click the shortcut icon of the Input Method in the taskbar, select "Settings", select "add" in settings, and find the input method in the pop-up "select input method" dialog box, click "OK" to add it to the input method.

Shared drive or folder settings

With Windows XP, you can easily set the drive or folder to "share", and if you do not want these shared drives or folders to be seen by remote computer users, you only need to add a "$" after the "Share Name" of the shared drive or folder, such as "C $ ". However, when a remote computer user knows the computer name and the username and password of the Administrator and Server Operator, any remote computer user can access the computer through the local area network or the Internet, this also poses a security risk to computers with shared drives or folders. To ensure the security of shared drives or folders, we should disable the server service. After server service is disabled, all remote computers cannot connect to any drive or folder on the computer, but the local administrator can still access shared folders on other computers. To disable server services, go to "Control Panel"> "performance and maintenance"> "Administrative Tools" and double-click the "service" icon, double-click "Server" in the "service" window. The dialog box shown in 1 is displayed. In the "Startup Type" list, select "disabled" or "Manual.

Manually activate screen saver

Screen Saver is generally automatically activated by the system. You can also manually activate it anytime, anywhere:

Click Start/search/file or folder. In the search criteria window, click all files and folders, and enter * in the file name box. scr, and then in the search range drop-down list, select the drive that stores the system file, and click search. Soon a lot of Screen Saver programs will be found, select the desired screen saver (you can double-click to preview), right-click the file, and select "send"/desktop shortcut in the shortcut menu that appears.

If you want to activate the screen saver in the future, simply double-click the corresponding shortcut icon on the desktop.
