Can I skip this step to Enable Automatic Logon? This article will take Windows XP as an example.

1. System Setup

In Win2000, you can specify a user name to automatically log on to Win2000. The procedure is as follows: Run "Control Panel" | "user and password". In the "user and password" dialog box, select the "user" tab, and click "use local machine" in the check box, the user must enter the user name and password, and then select the name of the user to log on to or set the name of another user, then press the "set password" button to display the "set password" dialog box. Do not enter any password at this time. Just click "OK. Return to the "user and password" dialog box and select the "advanced" tab. Make sure that the check box "to use the local machine, the user must enter the user name and password" is canceled. Select a user name to log on to the system under "Local User" and click "OK" below. Do not worry, the "Automatic Logon" dialog box appears (1). Do not enter any data. Click "OK" below.

2. Registry Method

Click Start | run, enter regedit to open the Registry Editor, and find the branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon ", create two new string values "DefaultUserName" and "DefaultPassword" in the right window, and assign values to the username and password (2 and 3) You want to log on automatically ), create a new string named "AutoAdminLogon" and assign it to 1. In this way, Windows automatically enters the user name and password to Enable Automatic Logon. If your system is working in a LAN environment and you need to renew the Domain Server when logging on to the system, you also need to add a "DefaultDomainName" and edit the string to name the domain name you are logged on.

In addition, if you want to temporarily Log On As another user, you only need to press the Shift key during Windows Startup and enter the user name and password when the logon dialog box appears.

3. Another option

Another method is relatively simple. You only need to click Start | run and enter rundll32 netplwiz. dll, UsersRunDll (case sensitive) or "control userpasswords2" can open a window named "User Account, in this way, you can clear the selected status of the "to use the local machine, the user must enter the password" option in the "User Account" Management window, and then press "Ctrl + Shift + A" on the keyboard ", the "Automatic Logon" Setting dialog box is displayed. You can set the user account and password used for automatic logon when the system starts up as needed (4 ).

Although Windows XP evolved from Win2K, their user settings are completely different. If you do not need tool software, you must all meet the following conditions before the system can automatically log on.

First, only one user can be set, and whether the customer account is opened or not is not affected. Run "Control Panel" | "User Account". The "User Account" dialog box is displayed. select another user and double-click the icon to delete it one by one. Only one user is retained.

Second, do not set any password. In the "User Account" dialog box, double-click the icon to delete the password.

Third, you must use the Windows XP Logon screen, instead of the traditional logon screen. In the "User Account" dialog box, select "Change User Login or logout method" and enter. The "User Account" dialog box appears, click "cancel" and then check the "use welcome screen" check box.

These three items are indispensable; otherwise, the system will not log on automatically.

Automatic Login using TweakUI

If you want to cancel Automatic Logon for some reason, you only need to remove the hook before "Automatic Logon upon system startup" and restart the system to restore the Windows logon interface.
