A few days ago, Trapeze Network for Trapeze NonStop Wireless™The SmartPass 7.0 access management platform is launched for network products. SmartPass 7.0 helps network administrators precisely control all aspects of access management, including users, content, time, location, causes, and access methods. With SmartPass 7.0, network administrators have more control over wireless network access than typical wired networks. Network administrators can easily control access locations, traffic, and policies for each period of time.

"SmartPass 7.0 has made significant improvements in access control and integration with commercial applications," said Ahmet Tuncay, vice president of product management and marketing. SmartPass combines user authentication, Device integrity detection, and dynamic access control with open interfaces. It is now a standardized platform developed for third parties, which is a pioneer in the wireless LAN industry ."

Currently, SmartPass can accept the following plug-ins:

◆ Advanced Access Control

◆ Location-based authentication

◆ RADIUS-based monitoring and reporting

◆ Visitor access

Trapeze Network released the SmartPass application interface, allowing enterprises to write their own plug-ins to precisely control their wireless networks.

Advanced Access Control

SmartPass is installed quickly and immediately begins to protect the integrity of the production network. Through the Advanced Access Control plug-in, the SmartPass network administrator can set the access based on the location, time, user identity, SSID, VLAN, or account data. It is based on RFC 3476 and can change the authorization attribute during an Active session.

An example of Advanced Access control is that in the education field, after a single thread of any specific student downloads 10 MB of content, the user will transfer from full access to the lowest priority queue, the maximum download speed may reach 100 kbps. In this way, every student has the opportunity to benefit from high-speed access.

Location

With the location-based authentication/Access Control plug-in, SmartPass 7.0 works with the Trapeze Network positioning device to provide location service for account data and add location information. The network administrator can set rules to allow or restrict access, allocate bandwidth, and allow all location-based resources. This is a unique advantage of the Trapeze Network.

For example, at school, a professor plans to perform a test from two o'clock P.M. to in classroom No. 230. During that time, she could change wireless access so that students could immediately refuse access to the Internet. If the professor permits, students can still access the relevant classroom materials in the LAN.

Good collaboration with other devices

SmartPass works closely with the LA-200 Location Device of Trapeze Network. SmartPass also works seamlessly with the Access Point and wireless controller of the wireless Network management suite RingMaster of the Trapeze Network. Together, these components provide a ready-to-use wireless network for enterprises around the clock.

No one exists independently. Similarly, network applications should not be forced to work independently from all other devices. This is why when Trapeze Networks designs SmartPass, the platform manufactured can work with Cisco's network access control, Microsoft's network access protection, and TCG (trusted computing organization) implement plug-and-play.

SmartPass stores the statistics of each user for user sessions or specific devices, including the lifetime session count, traffic details, and total traffic. All this means that SmartPass 7.0 can provide managers with unique observation points and reports on wireless applications and traffic models in various aspects related to time and location, so as to work with and supplement existing network tools. This information can be used to determine how to adjust the network capacity by adding more access points to ease blocking areas.

In addition, users can access the service wirelessly, but too many enterprises provide too many methods for too many users. The new generation of wireless laptops, iPhones, games, and music devices make the situation worse.

Through SmarPass, visitor access operators are fully protected by wireless LAN Controllers and network management tools, so no errors will occur. When a customer account is created, it is automatically cleared after a preset time. For example, after a day's work, you can change the time in the middle. SmartPass can be used to process several guests in a conference room or 1000 people in a conference center. In either way, every visitor can focus on their own work.
