Socket concept, socket

Socket is two programs on the network. It implements data exchange through a two-way communication connection. One end of this bidirectional link is called a Socket. Socket, which is usually used to connect the customer and the service provider. Socket is a very popular interface for TCP/IP protocol. A Socket is uniquely identified by an IP address and a port number.

The Socket uses the TCP/IP protocol model. The TCP/IP transmission layer has two transmission protocols: TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol ). TCP is based on connections, while UDP is connectionless. TCP has many requirements on system resources, But UDP has fewer requirements. TCP ensures data correctness and UDP may cause packet loss; TCP ensures data order, But UDP does not.
